Olympus' new DSLR uses iridix technology
Apical is pleased to announce that Olympus’s latest D-SLR camera, the E-3, uses Apical’s iridix-based image processing technology.
The E-3 features a new “Shadow Adjustment Technology” mode, first introduced in Olympus’ mju:/Stylus series compact DSCs.
The feature enables natural reproduction of shadow detail without loss of quality in midtones and highlights, giving E-3 users much better control of tonal range compared to previous-generation D-SLR technology.
Dr Michael Tusch, CEO Apical says “We have been impressed by the results which Olympus have achieved using our technology in their latest camera and are convinced that users will find the feature to be very effective in producing natural images in challenging lighting situations.”
Dr.Kikuchi, General Manager of Olympus Corporate R&D Center said " We are very excited about the performance of Shadow Adjustment Technology (SAT) and, are confident that this technology enables more preferable images without any hassles for Digital Compact users as well as adding more freedom of expression for Digital SLR users. SAT which has been embeded into our latest digital still cameras, was created by the marriage between Apical's unique IP, IRIDIX and Olympus' state of the arts image processing technique. I believe that continuous collaboration between two companies
keep improving SAT towards the future”.
The Olympus E-3 is on sale now.
